General Summary of Position:

Granite Telecommunications is seeking an analytical, customer service oriented professional to fill the role of Network & Security Engineer within our IT department. The successful candidate will work in a technically diverse and dynamic environment on a variety of multi-classification networks spanning several data centers and remote sites.

A successful candidate must have demonstrated skills as a problem solver, troubleshooter, and business advocate. Candidates must be resourceful and research answers to daily networking and security issues. Our top priority is customer satisfaction, professionalism, and the ability to work independently. Communication skills and team fit are highly valued. This position will report directly to the Manager of Information Services.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of network engineering: design, implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting

  • The Network & Security Engineer will be part of a security team that safeguards Granite’s infrastructure and information

  • Configure, upgrade and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers and wireless technologies

  • The Network & Security Engineer will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, maintenance and configuration of key initiates. Responsible for deploying suite of security tools including, but not limited to, firewalls, IPS, AV

  • Perform vulnerability scans, analyze results and assist with the remediation as necessary

  • Ensure access to all information systems is controlled, both internally and externally, commensurate with the level of potential risk and recommend appropriate corrections

  • Participate in computer security incident response efforts and other security investigation activities assigned

  • Thorough, accurate documentation practices are important

  • Night & Weekends support are required

  • After hours users support required

Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge on various firewall platforms e.g. Checkpoint, Fortinet & Cisco

  • Extensive knowledge on Cisco routers and switches (Cisco IOS, NX-OS)

  • Proficient hands on experience with vulnerability Management and remediation

  • Proficient hands on experience working with PCI Compliance

  • 3 + years network and security engineering experience

  • CCNA desired, CCNP certification a plus

  • Proficient hands on experience and understanding of fundamental networking concepts and protocols such as: BGP/EIGRP/VLAN/PVLA, STP, HSRP, IP, sub netting, routing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient understanding and experience using configuration management and/or diagnostic tools, monitoring applications and performance analysis tools

  • CISSP, CCNA/CCNP Security or other industry certifications preferred

  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux Operating Systems
