HarborOne Bank AVP Business Services Officer in Greater Boston, Massachusetts
Under the direction of the VP Director of Small Business, this position will primarily focus on Business Development. The Officer will be responsible for new to bank prospecting and acquisition, securing small business deposits, loans, and other banking products (fee income, cash management, merchant, etc.), and achieving production goals.
Small Business Portfolio Development & Management-60%
Proactively source and acquire new business banking customers and households.
Identify and match customer product needs with HarborOne Bank products and services by interviewing customers and assessing their business and financial needs.
Deliver exceptional service at every customer interaction.
Effective communication skills with diverse groups and individuals.
Maintain a strong and visible market presence in order to promote the Bank and the department.
Adhere to account opening procedures including accurate collection, completion and updating of required information.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of all HarborOne Bank products and services, procedures, policies, and appropriate regulatory issues in relation to deposit, transaction, and loan accounts.
Sell small business loan and deposit products, taking applications, and managing the closing process.
Promote the cross selling of other products and services of the other Divisions of the Bank i.e. Retail, Residential Mortgage, Consumer and Operations.
Manage the annual review and line of credit renewal process in adherence to HarborOne policies and procedures.
Maintain an understanding of the industry and awareness of competitor’s products and services. Keep management informed of competitive practices.
Regular travel throughout the branch region.
Participate in the underwriting of loan requests to new and existing customers
Verifying financial information and analyzing financial statements
Conduct credit checks and gather market information
Insure all loans are in compliance with internal policy and meet regulatory requirements
Represent the Bank in the marketplace-10%
Effectively promote HarborOne & our business services thru involvement in the community
Participate in various events sponsored by business associations
Compliance & Risk – 5%
Knowledge of standards and practices, regulations, federal, state and local laws related to consumer and residential lending
Maintain an excellent understanding of applicable regulations and laws including but not limited to; Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy; Fair Lending and HMDA.
Maintain an up to date understanding of Bank policies and procedures as they relate to compliance.
Complete appropriate compliance training.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
At least three years recent related business lending experience. Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year College or technical school preferred. Demonstrated ability to be successful in an independent sales environment. A proven ability to develop and close small business loans in the target market; solid knowledge of sales strategies; excellent interpersonal communication skills. Good understanding of credit products.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
