Berkshire Healthcare Maintenance Director in Danvers, Massachusetts
The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Maintenance Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility.
Maintain, evaluate and direct the Maintenance Department, its programs, policies, procedures, and activities.
Participates in facility inspections made by authorized governmental agencies.
Assists in recruitment, interviewing and selection of maintenance staff.
Coordinates maintenance services and activities with other related departments (i.e. Dietary, Nursing, etc.).
Must have a minimum two years' experience in a supervisory capacity in a maintenance/plant related position.
Education and Training: Vocational school or equivalent training. Must have experience and knowledge of safe operation of powered hand drills, drill press, bench grinder, table saw, Sawzall, belt sander, band saw, saber saw, hand-held disk grinder, drop lights and any other power equipment needed to complete daily tasks.
Must be knowledgeable in building code, safety regulation and assist in establishing preventive maintenance programs.
Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, sketches and diagrams.
Must have the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must be able to effectively interact with facility residents in a professional, respectful, and positive manner with appropriate awareness of and consideration for their specific clinical level of function.
Possess the ability to deal tactfully with visitors, staff, and/or personnel and the general public.
Must be able to communicate clearly, with English as the primary language; bi-lingual ability a plus.
Must have the ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift up to 25 pounds occasionally to a minimum height of three feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight, with or without the aid of mechanical devices.
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which include a medical and physical examination.
