City of Cambridge Assistant Coordinator of Payroll & Personnel/MSYEP (Temporary) in Cambridge, Massachusetts
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP), operated by the Office of Workforce Development (OWD), is a public sector summer employment program serving approximately 950 Cambridge teens every year. Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Employment, the Assistant Coordinator will:
- Provide personnel/administrative management and oversight for MSYEP
- Assist with youth intake and staff hiring/training
- Enter data with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
- Administer weekly payroll for 950+ participants and staff of program.
- Manage personnel database and filing systems
- Work in coordination with City payroll and personnel departments
- Provide information to youth and parents
- Match participants with job assignments
- With Director of Youth Employment, supervise program counselors and manage staff schedules
Experience in payroll/fiscal administration and data entry. Extremely detail-oriented. Staff supervisory experience. Experience in youth services. Ability to work as part of a team, troubleshoot and communicate effectively. B.A. in related field desirable. Experience working with diverse youth population a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: *Must be able to lift fifty pounds and participate in activities that require physical exertion. Sufficient mobility to travel back and forth from the MSYEP office to various sites throughout the City. *WORK ENVIRONMENT: *Office environment with fluorescent lighting, air conditioning, computers and other standard office equipment. Shared office space can be busy and loud.
