BT Trading Systems Field Technician in Boston, Massachusetts

JOB TITLE: Field Support Technician

REPORTS TO: Service Manager

LOCATION: Boston Metro

SUMMARY:

The Field Support Technician provides first line maintenance services on all BT products. The FST will also perform moves, adds and changes on installed system, install demonstration systems and assist on new installations if necessary. The FST will work closely with the customer on maintenance calls and with the Project Manager on installations and demonstrations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide maintenance services on the complete range of BT products.Provide accurate information to the Call Center Rep to maintain fault-tracking system.

  • Perform moves, adds and changes as requested by the customer in agreed timescales. Provide accurate information to the CCR to ensure accurate billing of the customer.

  • Perform the installation of demonstration systems to meet requirements specified by the Project Manager.

  • Assist at new installations when necessary.

  • Perform preventative maintenance services at assigned sites as instructed.

  • Provide technical support to FST staff members.

  • Assume pro-active approach to establishing work-related procedures and responsibilities.This will include technical procedures for new products and services.

  • Prepare information and/or complete assigned actions items in a timely and professional manner as requested by management.

  • Utilize diagnostic tools correctly to quickly identify customer problems.

  • Troubleshoot problems on BT products, escalating problem if necessary.

  • Liaise with and provide information to the BT Help Desk as necessary to rectify any problems that require their cooperation.

  • Increase professional knowledge through BT training and/or other sources as needed.

  • Report to work on time and work scheduled shift.

  • The primary job interfaces for this position is Customer Support Management, Project Managers, and Warehouse services.

  • Travel both within and outside the continental United States.

  • Work outside of normal business hours as required.

  • On call coverage as required

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • Cisco Call Manager/Avaya Communication Manager programming and support.

  • Trading turret and system suppport

  • Voice recording knowledge a plus

  • Two or four year degree in an Electronics or Computer Science related field or equivalent work related experience is preferred.

  • Analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to excel in high-pressure environment.

  • Excellent inter-personal skills.

  • Ability to quickly assimilate new information.

  • Ability to operate in a multi-task environment with very little supervision.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and good follow through skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours as required

  • Computer literate, specifically MS excel, word, etc.

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) a plus PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years voice/data experience in a service orientated environment.

  • Knowledge of Financial Trading Environment would be preferable.
