Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Research Technician - Kaelin Lab in Boston, Massachusetts

A highly motivated laboratory research technician is being sought to join a research team that works to identify novel therapeutic targets in small cell lung cancer using both in vitro and in vivo approaches. This individual will work with a research fellow to perform cutting-edge research with potential impact on cancer treatment. The ability to perform a variety of cellular and molecular biology techniques is essential for this role, as are good organizational and communication skills, ability to work within a team, flexibility and responsibility.

-Extraction and analysis of DNA and mRNA, including PCR, quantitative PCR, realtime-PCR, and CRISRP amplicon sequencing.

-Cloning using restriction enzymes and recombination cloning

-Generation of lentiviruses and adenoviruses

-Protein chemical assays including immunoblotting.

-Tissue culture

-Transfection and transduction of mammalian cell lines

-Cell proliferation assays following pharmacological treatments and genetic inactivation by CRISPR.

-Mouse colony breeding and maintenance.

-Data analysis and recording of results electronically and in a lab notebook.

-Preparation of reagents and media used in lab experiments.

-Working closely with a scientist who will serve as direct supervisor and mentor.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, capable, and competent scientist, with a BA/BS in biology or a related field. Preference will be given to those with a strong background in coursework in molecular and cellular biology with at least some laboratory experience in that area. In addition to technical and scientific knowledge, this individual should have good organizational and interpersonal skills and a good problem solver.

We prefer to have candidates with at least two years of availability.
