This Research Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for:

  • Training and supervising staff, including providing continuing education.

  • Creating and maintaining laboratory documentation including standard operating procedures, equipment maintenance logs, specimen shipment receipts, etc.

  • Managing laboratory inventory and equipment, including validation and implementation of automation.

  • Monitoring laboratory services for accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to deadlines.

  • Working with management and staff to develop and implement quality assurance program and ensure compliance.

  • Providing knowledgeable and courteous customer support.

  • Leading continuous improvement, process optimization, development, and implementation projects for advancement and scale-up of services and throughput.

  • Ensuring compliance with governmental and hospital regulations.

To qualify, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree AND a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience OR Master of Science AND 4 years of relevant work experience.

  • A high degree of problem solving and decision making skills.

  • Detail-oriented with proficient organizational, writing, and record-keeping skills.

  • Efficient time management skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

  • The ability to meet high-performance standards with regard to work quality and quantity.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff and customers.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems.

  • Competency in the use of laboratory equipment and automation.

  • Experience in process improvement.

  • Preferred - Strong background in molecular biology and/or biobanking.

Our lab focuses on epilepsy genetics, from human to in vivo models. We are performing exome analyses on cohorts of patients with epilepsy, as well as Sanger confirmation. Most of the lab is working on zebrafish models of epilepsy genes, including CRISPR/Cas methods to introduce mutations, behavioral phenotyping, and electrophysiology.

The ideal candidate has bench experience and expertise as well as excellent organizational skills to supervise research technicians, maintain research safety and animal protocols, train new lab members, and oversee orders and contracts for the lab.
