Suffolk Construction Principal Data Architect in Boston, Massachusetts
The Principal Data Architect is responsible for overseeing the ongoing design and implementation of Suffolk’s data analytics infrastructure as well as serving as the primary technical point of contact for the CDO (Chief Data Officer) organization. This focus will allow IT to enable Suffolk’s vision of advanced data analytics, including a 360-degree view of projects. This position collaborates with key stakeholders in the CDO organization, Operations and other members of the IT Leadership Team.

Technical subject matter expert for Suffolk’s data analytics infrastructure technology (e.g., MarkLogic).
Proficient in related data technology that supports ingestion, integration and other enabling processes (e.g., Dell Boomi, etc).
Own the ongoing data architecture process which adapts Suffolk’s data infrastructure to meet evolving data analytics business requirements.
Serve as IT lead for data infrastructure projects, collaborating with other members of the IT Leadership Team.
Support the business vision of integrated, near-real time view of data across the project lifecycle and prediction built into all aspects of construction projects.
Ensure scalable and flexible data environment that adapts to new business requirements.
Collaborate with CDO organization and business stakeholders to help implement MDM (master data management) processes that reinforce data quality and consistency.
Collaborate with IT infrastructure to help ensure highly available, cost effective, resilient, and secure hosting solutions for data analytics infrastructure.
Work with vendors on understanding business and technical requirements and writing statements of work.
Serve as key contributing member of IT’s Architecture Review Team and lead “voice” for the data implications (advantages and disadvantages) of proposed technologies across the department.
Develop and deliver oral and written presentations to all levels of management to audiences both technical and non-technical.
Participate in IT discussions with internal stakeholders to discuss and clarify requests for improved/additional functionality made by or proposed to the business.
Develop internal IT processes with the team to improve and streamline operations, reduce risk, and improve reliability of our systems and services.
Contribute to weekly progress reports on department activities.
Minimum fifteen years of technology-related experience (with an emphasis on database technology and the architecture discipline)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Strong combination of technical and consultative skills
Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Solution agent with strong planning, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work collaboratively and individually
Sound business judgment
Proven success as influencer and as a change agent
Highly organized, able to prioritize and multi-task
