The Corporate Strategy team at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) exists to define and facilitate the strategic planning process, develop, articulate and adapt the company’s strategic plan and support critical strategic initiatives in their formation of recommendations and transition to implementation. Reporting to the Strategy Manager, the successful intern will play a key role in supporting the team. This will require supporting strategy leads in designing strategic planning initiatives, conducting analysis of market intelligence and providing project and program management support of efforts.
Support development of various components of strategic planning process (e.g. creation of a landscape view, prioritization of key issues for executive engagement)
Conduct qualitative and quantitative relevant secondary research to inform ongoing strategy planning work (e.g. strategy briefs and roadmaps), synthesize research into organized frameworks
Develop project related deliverables including PowerPoint presentations, status reports, interview guides, project plans/timelines, meeting facilitation plans and capturing outcomes and next steps
Present updates, findings and recommendations to internal team and other leaders and associates for assigned projects, as needed
Keep abreast of changes in the industry and highlight relevant industry events as they may occur
Understanding and interest of strategic planning, project management and change management approaches and principles
Demonstrated project management and / or consulting skills
Ability to deal effectively with ambiguous situations
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations to a wide variety of audiences
High degree of initiative along with ability to act as a team player
Results oriented with a willingness to get the job done while working independently
Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to prioritize multiple projects and assignments
High degree of professionalism, discretion and confidence along with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of an organization
Strong computer skills (e.g., MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
Must have access to reliable personal transportation with ability to travel to and between BCBSMA sites, including local travel to alternate locations external to BCBSMA, as required by project responsibilities
BS/BA required. Candidate for Master’s Degree in Business Administration or other advanced degree preferred
Minimum of 3 years of relevant business experience, including demonstrated experience in a consulting and/or project management role
