iRobot’s Director of PMO (EPMO & IT) is looking for a creative, forward-thinking hands-on Program Manager to help shape an emerging functional capability in our organization. In this role, you’ll be responsible for helping drive development of a new Enterprise Portfolio Management and Program management capability for major strategic initiatives. In this dual capacity role, you will be responsible for most aspects of building a ‘lightweight’ Portfolio service - utilizing matrix-based relationship influence and engagement. In your other capacity, you will be responsible for driving complex programs, which are typically cross functional in nature, through all aspects of its’ delivery (i.e. global and/or strategic corporate initiatives like M&A).

Being a fit for this role means that you’re highly skilled with formal large scale, complex portfolio and program delivery practices, yet experienced enough to diverge from those frameworks when necessary. You have a passion for innovation and continuous learning, yet are disciplined enough to stay on task with current assignments. Strong skills navigating social structures, organizing work, facilitating technical discussions, encouraging collaboration, driving outcomes, and earning a leadership role among peers are critical tools in your management tool belt.

You will matrix manage multiple stakeholders across several business process areas, and geographic locations using a combination of home-grown and industry standard management best practices. This will be a very visible role within the enterprise and will interact with all levels of the organization.

  • You’ll be asked to build out and evangelize an emerging enterprise portfolio service across the corporate and regional organizations. This practice is intended to better enable functional leaders to understand all of the large-scale initiative demand, when it is scheduled to occur, who is needed to complete the work, and where conflicts resolution is needed.

  • You’ll be asked to do all of the typical program/project management responsibilities such as defining, planning, staffing, managing, reporting on, and closing complex programs/projects. You’ll also need to produce the associated artifacts to support those responsibilities.

  • You’ll be asked to do many of the typical business analysis functions such as defining and managing requirements, matching needs with solutions, understanding and improving business processes, authoring requirements, and creating ‘clarity out of chaos’.

  • You’ll be asked to help develop new delivery methodologies, build additional capabilities, and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the team.

You’ll be asked to communicate to small and larger groups, and do so with a high level of confidence, while being able to balance the right level of both verbal and written messaging

  • You have at least twelve (12) years of experience managing business and/or technology projects

  • You have advanced knowledge of traditional and agile project management delivery methods

  • You have successfully managed project teams involving non-dedicated staff, borrowed resources, multiple vendors, senior leaders, technical experts, and business owners

  • You have run PMO portfolio management services for a cross-functional service organization

  • You have developed and maintained complex project plans

  • You have developed and maintained complex resource plans

  • You have developed and maintained risk, issue, and decision logs

  • You have designed, authored, and regularly distributed status reports

  • You have consistently expanded your scope of influence and capability during the course of your career and you’re eager to keep that streak going!

  • You understand the importance of soft skills, social presence, influence, and creating positive work environments.

  • You like working for a manager who understands the importance of work/life balance, gives you some autonomy to blaze your own path but jumps in to provide guidance where needed, and provides you with opportunities to push the limits of your skill, learn new things, and expand your role in the organization.

  • You must have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, with an MBA/Master’s preferred

  • You must be a US Citizen
