Fresenius Medical Center Supervisor, Contracts Management in Waltham, Massachusetts

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

As Supervisor, Contracts Management, plays an integral role in the department, providing lead direction and work oversight of highly confidential, complex, and timely documents, as well as other related documents for the company. Accountable for strong understanding of RTG’s operations and businesses, allowing for identification of opportunities/problems, compilation and analysis of information, and developing recommendations. Makes timely decisions on fact-based evidence, within appropriate authority level. Quickly adapts and adopts new company strategies, goals, and objectives.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for supervision of the day-to-day operations and preparation of complex contract documents and related files for national, regional, joint venture, wholesaler and government contracts for the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. This includes contract opportunity, performance, and gross margin analyses, and recommending limitation of risks and opportunities for business optimization.

  • Oversees and supervises department resources to establish priorities, assignments, and responsibilities of Contracts staff to meet department and corporate strategies, goals, and objectives.

  • Responsible for driving the FMCNA/RTG culture through values and customer service standards.

  • Provides oversight and accountability to ensure outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers, taking initiative and action to respond, resolve, and follow-up with issues in a timely manner.

  • Drafts, oversees, and maintains contract tools such as, but not limited to: templates, pro-forma analysis, language libraries, etc.

  • Advises Manager of contract provisions requiring Legal review.

  • Maintains Marketing Business Strategies and Guideline communications.

  • Assists Manager as Marketing Liaison, ensuring contract documents/tools are consistent with contract guidelines and direction.

  • Reviews and complies with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.

  • Ensures all employees within the assigned team(s) understand and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations; establishing and maintaining effective internal systems and controls to promote compliance.

  • Provides direct supervision of the assigned team(s) through ongoing leadership and guidance; partnering with Human Resources on employee matters.

  • Provides direction to employees, according to established policies, procedures and management guidance. Supervises day-to-day operations of employees. Responsible for hiring, coaching and counseling employees, including performance reviews, disciplinary action and terminations.

  • Responsible for department training on process, use of tools, and contract management system.

  • Develops and maintain effective relationships through effective and timely communications.

  • Administers company policies, processes and procedures that directly affect subordinate employees and the workflow unit. Recommends changes to unit or sub-unit policies.

  • Works on issues where analysis of situation or data requires a review of relevant factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Role primarily focuses on tactical execution.

  • Provides technical guidance.

  • Assists with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.

  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION:

Responsible for the direct supervision of various levels of staff.

Contracts Management Specialists, Contract Administrator, and other professional staff as necessary.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in business administration, sales, or finance administration.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a business environment required at a Senior or Lead level, preferably in a contracts role; or 1-3 years of experience in a supervisory role.

  • Familiarity with contracting procedures and contract management system highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with Medical Device and/or Pharmaceutical Contracting necessary.

  • Fast-paced environment; must be flexible, adaptable, and have the ability to re-establish priorities as necessary.

  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, organizational, and influencing skills required.

  • Strong computer skills a must, including Microsoft Word and Excel and Lotus Notes. Familiarity with Power Point, Contracting Management System, and relational database software is also preferred.

  • Proven track record of team leadership and ability to provide subordinates with resources and guidance to ensure goals and objectives are met, including employee development.

  • Ability to identify opportunities/problems, recommend solutions and implement actions needed.

  • Ability to understand business strategy while maintaining a strong attention to detail required.
