Raytheon Mgr II Systems Engineering in Marlborough, Massachusetts
Raytheon Intelligence, Information, and Services (IIS) is seeking a Section Manager in the Transportation and Support Services (TSS) department in the Systems Engineering directorate. The TSS department contains approximately 150 systems engineers divided between Fullerton, CA and Marlborough, MA. The TSS department supports the TSS Mission Area in IIS, which includes the Air Traffic Systems (ATS) sub-Mission Area and the Highway Tolling Solutions (HTS) sub-Mission Area. The Section Manager is responsible for line supervision of 15-20 systems engineers involved, primarily, in the development and support of Air Traffic Systems (ATS) in the ATS sub-Mission Area. The Section Manager will report to the department manager of TSS Systems Engineering, part of the IIS Systems Engineering directorate. Responsibilities include: Manage Section staff (assignments, training, coaching/mentoring, workload planning/task assignments, performance development, career development planning, salary planning, professional development) Ensure that Systems Engineering tasks on ATS programs covered by the section meet cost, schedule and technical requirements; engage on programs to address execution issues Ensure project adherence to Raytheon, IIS, and Systems Engineering policies and procedures Deploy and ensure compliance with IIS and Systems Engineering process initiatives (e.g. IPDS, EPIC) on ATS programs Execute IIS Engineering, Systems Engineering, and TSS department strategies and goals Support development of technical/cost proposals and engineering bids for new ATS business Support IPDS gate independent reviews as a review chair or reviewer Support startup planning for new programs Recruit, hire and retain new staff Required Qualifications: At least 8 years systems/software/hardware engineering experience, including 4 or more years’ successful management of an engineering development project/task in systems, software, or hardware engineering Working knowledge of Air Traffic Systems and related automation systems Working knowledge of Raytheon Earned Value management methods (certified CAM) Ability to manage cost and schedule and develop accurate task forecasts Ability to develop engineering bids and proposals Ability to support IPDS gate independent reviews as a review chair or reviewer Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at one time in a fast paced environment Ability to lead an engineering team, and foster an inclusive and diverse work environment Ability to work well in a team environment with other engineering leaders Effective interpersonal communication skills Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills Proven problem-solving skills Must have proven ability to coach, mentor and develop team members, develop organizational leaders Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience. BS required, MS preferred.
