Our client’s Surveillance Systems Group conducts research on integrated sensing and decision support architectures for Air Traffic Control. The group is currently performing research and development into the impact of new generations of secondary surveillance systems on the National Airspace System (NAS), with two major approaches. In the initial approach, the Project Team is analyzing system architecture, implementation, and operational use concepts to assess the theoretical impacts of proposed new systems on the NAS. The results of this research are analyses used by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to determine the effects that the proposed new systems would have on the performance of already-deployed NAS systems.
In addition, The Group is developing the Next Generation Airborne Collision Avoidance System (ACAS X), also on behalf of the FAA. This Project Team is developing ACAS X in modern high-level computer software languages and algorithm approaches.
A software programmer is needed to participate in development of airborne safety systems and related simulation systems. The specific focus of this position is support to a Laboratory Project Team in development of system architecture, design, implementation and test of software prepared for evaluation in software-based simulation environments and in actual flight tests.
Position Scope/Job Functions:
Collaborate with other ACAS X system development personnel to develop system architecture and software implementations. The assignment includes module and system tests to ensure proper implementation.
Experience and knowledge in the following areas are required:
. Design, code, and test using higher level programming languages such as C/C++ and Matlab;
. MySQL database design, implementation, and maintenance;
. Development of high-fidelity models for real-time simulation environments;
. Analyis of simulation system performance and fidelity;
. Develop automation tools for building, testing, and data analysis using Jenkins, Python, and other scripting languages;
. Developing, debugging, and executing software in Windows and Linux environments;
. Source code and version control management, with revision control systems such as SVN or Git.
A highly successful candidate will have the following special skills:
. Configuration management;
. Software automation processes;
. familiarity with the Julia software programming language;
. familiarity with air traffic surveillance and control;
. radar and surveillance for aviation;
. automatic dependent surveillance broadcast;
. airborne collision avoidance systems;
. unmanned aerial systems;
. digital signal processing.
BS with a minimum of one directly related experience. Associates with a minimum of two years directly related experience.
