Position Title: Senior Director, Medical Affairs Program Management

Position Description:

The Senior Director Medical Affairs Program Management will report to the VP, Medical Operations and will be responsible for overseeing a 30-person transversal organization supporting all therapeutic areas of Sanofi Genzyme. The incumbent will lead organizations supporting several major Medical Affairs activities including: Investigator and Company-sponsored Studies Project Management, Health Care Provider (HCP) engagement Project Management, Immunology Program Management, and Rare Disease Registries & Life-Cycle Program Management.

Essential Functions

  • Direct teams of program managers for each therapeutic area who organize, prioritize, execute and track progress on key Medical Affairs program initiatives as well as assist in the creation and documentation of Medical Affairs strategy. These teams support both the medical affairs needs of mature product portfolios as well as new product launches.

  • Direct team of project managers tasked with insuring the compliant and efficient execution of HCP-engagements (advisory boards, symposia) to support medical insight generation.

  • Direct team of project managers tasked with insuring compliant execution and maintenance of Investigator and Company Sponsored Studies supporting the logistics of SRC review thru study completion and publication.

  • Line management responsibilities including hiring talent, providing guidance, performance development, coaching, and mentoring.

  • Participate in resource prioritization to ensure each therapeutic area has adequate support to carry out their necessary activities.

  • Lead forecasting and budgeting activities for group assuring accurate planning and monitoring of spending and headcount.

  • Support the evaluation, recommendation, and presentation of standard practice and process improvements to leadership and key stakeholders. Work with team leaders to insure processes are harmonized and best practices are implemented across all therapeutic areas.

  • Provide leadership over the LEAN initiative being implemented within HCP Engagement. Liaise with all functional groups involved in this initiative to influence and drive change.

  • Provide senior management with timely updates on progress and changes in scope, schedule, and resources across department and therapeutic areas.

  • Ensure compliance to company policies in regards to all functional team activities and engage and advocate to business the criticality of these.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 15+ years or an advanced degree with 10+ years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry

  • At least 10 years of people management experience

  • 10+ years of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry and a strong track record of delivering results in project management and operational strategies

  • Background in Medical Affairs Program Management and/or Medical Operations

  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to influence and lead others to deliver quality results in a timely manner in both independent and team environments

  • Ability to think beyond the function, identifying connections between different areas of the organization to see the broader perspective

  • Ability to identify issues and challenges and seek means to address and resolve via outreach to peers and senior management

  • Ability to communicates clearly, and demonstrate vision and commitment

  • Capable and enthusiastic about managing and mentoring

  • Must think strategically and drive decisions/Program forward with the ability to weigh both the short and long term impact of decisions

  • Strong interpersonal and communication experience with the ability to effectively interface across all levels of the organization

  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent communication and follow up skills

  • Excellent judgment and problem solving skills

  • Excellent Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word document development experience
