As an initial project, the Scientist will work with a collaborative team of academic, staff, and industrial researchers on in tissue sequencing technology development. The candidate will join a team with focus areas including sequencing, genome engineering, sensors, and gene editing therapeutics. Reporting to the institute's Synthetic Biology Lead Senior Scientist, research goals will include utilizing current methods and developing new protocols for in situ sequencing and imaging of serial sections of mouse brain and other tissue. The scientist will optimize protocol and the imaging of iterative in situ sequencing of tissue and assist image analysis of the data. The candidate will also assist on design, assay and resource development on several platform focus areas.
The candidate will identify resources to approach research challenges and the Institute’s entrepreneurial mission. The candidate will collaborate with faculty and other researchers, acting as expert in specialized area and writing on manuscripts, abstracts, and other publications of research findings. The candidate will participate in writing research proposals and reports to funding agencies, providing critical data, figures or information for grant and patent submissions. The candidate will present research results at Wyss internal and external meetings. Additionally, the candidate will conduct laboratory research, mentor and supervise the efforts of staff, students, and fellows.
