Job Description and Responsibilities

At Schlumberger-Doll Research (SDR) located in Cambridge, MA, the robotics department is conducting applied research and evaluating cutting-edge enabling technology for the automation of unstructured oilfield operations. We are looking for motivated PhD or Master’s level roboticists specializing in intelligent manipulation to join a talented multidisciplinary team working on solving stimulating problems that will deliver disruptive differentiation to Schlumberger and its customers in functions spanning manufacturing, maintenance and field operations. The successful candidate will closely collaborate with research and engineering teams to design, develop, simulate and test research prototypes in harsh oilfield environments. Taking advantage of the vibrant Boston robotic cluster, he/she will participate in strategic engagements with academic research institutions and industry partners. Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD degree in robotics with research emphasis on dexterous and autonomous manipulation
  • Deep theoretical foundation in artificial intelligence applicable to robotic systems
  • Familiarity with reinforcement/demonstration learning is a plus
  • Proven expertise in implementing adaptive path/activity planning under uncertainty, computer vision, electromechanical system control and verification testing
  • High-quality research and technical publications
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational and communication skills
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US without sponsorship
