RESEARCH GUIDE, Media Laboratory, to assist in managing the flow of visits, meetings, and tours in an office dedicated to developing new member companies and maintaining relationships with existing members. Responsibilities include managing visits and supporting events for both prospective and existing member companies, e.g., preparing customized agendas, coordinating registration, reserving rooms, helping arrange research demonstrations, escorting members, arranging catering, etc.; thorough notetaking on company interests and questions during visits; researching current and prospective member companies using Google, Hoovers, and other research tools; interacting with representatives of current and prospective member companies via email, telephone, and in-person; keeping abreast of current research and activities within the lab by attending demos and talking with faculty, researchers, staff, and students; greeting company representatives and other guests and groups, introducing them to the lab, and conducting tours; and answering questions from unscheduled visitors.

REQUIRED: great interpersonal skills and comfort speaking to large groups; ability to grasp scientific research and relay a basic understanding to others; excellent verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail; punctuality; ease learning and navigating databases; comfort working in a highly diverse and international environment and ability to build productive working relationships with a wide range of people; tact and good judgment in handling confidential information; and facility with PCs or Macintosh computers and Microsoft Office.
