Job Description

LECTURER, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) (multiple positions), to serve as a lecturer on discrete mathematics, algorithms, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or human-computer interaction. Will participate in educational activities during the fall, Independent Activities Period (IAP), and spring terms. Responsibilities will include interacting with students (e.g., lecturing, leading recitations, staffing lab, and office hours); creating course content such as lecture materials, problem sets, quizzes, videos, and other on-line materials; and carrying out administrative responsibilities (e.g., locating, hiring, and supervising course staff; record-keeping; and interacting with staff in the department and Registrar’s Office). May participate in the creation/migration of courses onto OCW and/or MITx. Course assignment will include some of the following and may include other related courses: Introduction to Machine Learning (6.036), Machine Learning (6.867), Introduction to Algorithms (6.006), Design and Analysis of Algorithms (6.046), Mathematics for Computer Science (6.042), Artificial Intelligence (6.034), and User Interface Design and Implementation (6.813). Research opportunities such as cosupervision of undergraduate or master’s projects may also arise.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in topical area related to responsibilities, teaching experience in related undergraduate courses, and demonstrated interest in educational innovation. Job #15209

This will be an academic year appointment with a salary in the $70 - 100K range.

The initial appointment will be for two years, with potential for appointment extensions.
