Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of or eight years of successful direct fundraising experience, with a demonstrated track record in closing 7-8 figure gifts for major institutional capital projects.
Travel domestically, and occasionally, internationally is required.
Master’s degree preferred
Strong strategic skills with demonstrated success in soliciting and securing major gifts, with a particular emphasis on devising sophisticated cultivation and solicitation strategies, and creative problem solving.
Demonstrated ability to form and leverage relationships with top prospects, effectively manage volunteers and secure significant gifts through effective prospect management.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, engage and work with senior level staff, donors, and volunteers and to forge effective relationships with academic leaders and faculty.
Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills. Outgoing and positive interpersonal skills with proven ability to work collaboratively or independently in managing multiple projects in a fast-paced and goal-oriented environment.
Ability and willingness for extensive travel is required.
Occasional evening and weekend work required.

The HGSD, as the most preeminent design school in the world, offers an exciting setting for interaction and the exchange of ideas through the combination of disciplines—architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning and design—together with an emerging research program and a robust public program of lectures and exhibition, creates a dynamic, intellectually creative environment. We are seeking an energetic, forward thinking and experienced individual who will work as part of a team to support an ambitious fund raising agenda and program at the HGSD with specific focus on the HGSD Gund Hall Expansion fundraising project.
Serving as strategic fundraiser for the Gund Hall Expansion fundraising project, the senior officer will carry out a defined project plan that will engage a core set of key donors to test their inclination and interests in making 7-8 figure gifts to support this major campus building project.
Will work in partnership with Office of the Dean and in close coordination with the Director of External Administration and Development Office to execute on a series of prospect meetings with the Dean.
Advances prospect strategies for the Dean’s Top Prospects who have been designated as key Gund Hall Expansion prospects, working closely with the Assistant Director of Principal Gift Prospect Management and Strategy.
Staff and brief the Dean and faculty for prospect/donor visits, solicitations and events as necessary.
Prepare briefing materials, donor correspondence, and other donor communications to support donor discussions.
Works closely with the Dean, Executive Dean, Chief Financial Officer and Facilities Project manager to execute on establishment of the Building Committee and other volunteer engagement structures.
Builds strong relationships, and works closely with volunteer leaders and committees as part of the building campaign activities.
Will work closely with the Gund Hall Expansion Project Manager to meet key project deadlines.
Works closely with the Associate Director of Alumni and Development Communications and works in coordination with the GSD’s Assistant Dean for Communications on the creation of the fundraising and marketing materials for the Gund Hall Expansion Project.
Serving as a member of the Principal and Major Gifts Team in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, will participate in prospect strategy meetings, Fund Raising Priorities Meetings and other team meetings related to advancing and capturing prospect activity for this strategic fund raising priority.
Serve as strategic advisor on content development and event activity. Drafts donor correspondence, contact reports, briefings and communications.
Extensive travel expectations are required to conduct donor and prospect visits, as well as for event staffing.
Collaborates closely with other development and alumni relations teams, serves as a knowledgeable liaison to other GSD and University offices.
