Summary/Objective:

The role of the Innovator EE (I-EE) is to evaluate, develop, and demonstrate early-stage performance/capability for new materials technology as a part of new business and strategic market growth initiatives. The I-EE interfaces and cooperation with University, government, and peer corporate partners as well as organic development effort to identify and/or generate suitable technologies and/or works with the Rogers Innovation and R&D teams to deliver working prototypes to customers for feedback. The R&D professional has a desire for embracing responsibility. The role is accountable for execution of research and early stage development of new product technology which can significantly impact the profitable growth of the corporation. The Innovator EE will deliver valuable technologies and products to the company, and demonstrate technical competence, commercial urgency, good communication skills, and an understanding of technical product commercialization.

Essential Functions:

  • Work closely in a cross functional team with Research, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing, to research and develop new products and product enhancements

  • Works with others to develop project plans and produce functional prototypes, test the product performance, assess and document the performance results

  • Successfully interact with external technical resources (both academic and peers), commercial partners, and internal technical and operational resources

  • Evaluates datasheet specifications, sourcing and procuring components for test systems, new test equipment and demonstration prototypes

  • Work with product suppliers to identify and procure needed components and materials for product designs

  • Accountable/responsible for safety in the lab and office space

  • Responsible for accurate bill of materials, quality control and adherence to Rogers’ procedures, and all documentation of new product designs

  • Required Education and Experience: ** *

    • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work place experience.

    • 2-5 years of experience with success in the development, evaluation and in achieving milestones towards the commercialization of applied materials or components development for the electronics industry

    • Ability to work independently, plan, organize and oversee multiple research projects

    • Ability to travel up to 20% to other Rogers locations and company partners in the U.S. and abroad

    • Must be a self-motivated individual with excellent communication and time management skills who is well organized, meticulous and be able to tune in different types of experimental work.
