Boston, Massachusetts.U-Haul International is currently hiring forALLlevels of mechanics from Preventative Maintenance, Brake and Tire, Suspension and Steering, Engine, Heating and Air Conditioning, Auto Body Repair, and more!
We are looking for mechanics with the following skill sets:• Diagnose source of mechanical and drive ability problems and repair or replace gasoline or diesel engine parts and related components such as radiators, and heating and cooling systems• Perform a variety of repairs or replacements which include, but are not limited to, cooling systems, suspensions, electrical systems, and engine performance components• Repair and / or replace steering and suspension components• Perform a variety of repairs and replacements on power steering, pumps, and gearboxes• Perform basic front-end alignments; inspect, diagnose and repair differential components• Diagnose the source of mechanical and drive ability problems to repair and / or replace braking systems• Must be able to turn rotors and drums, mount, balance, dismount and swap out tires• Must be able to use basic hand/power tools; torque wrenches, wheel balances, etc• Inspect and repair single / tandem-axle trailers, tow bars, hitches, and car-top carriers• Repair damaged panels, axles, suspension and associated equipment• Fabricate trailer fixtures, including surface preparation, cutting of steel / aluminum, welding and painting• Perform less complex repair and preventative maintenance• Adhere to established repair shop guidelines and preventative maintenance production checklists to insure that inspections are performed in exact order• Perform fiberglass, reinforced plywood, and aluminum repairs and replace, stretch, straighten, shrink, patch, weld, align and refinish truck van bodies• Prepare panels for painting and decals, fill holes and repair scratches
• Position requires a valid driver’s license and a good driving record to operate a motor vehicle• Ability to adhere to all local vehicular regulations while operating a motor vehicleU-Haul drivers that operate service vehicles and/or rental trucks with a GVWR of 10,001 lbs. or more or a combination of vehicles (truck and trailer) with a GCWR of 10,001 lbs. or more are required to have a driver qualification file. A medical certificate from a federally registered medical examiner must be obtained to be a U-Haul CMV driver.
The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts or machines, fumes or irritant chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing, or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.
The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities, and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.
