_GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:_

Acts as administrative support to the General Counsel’s Office and the executive assistant to the General Counsel of the Massachusetts Child Welfare Agency.

_EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:_

  1. Manage, coordinate and monitor all ICWA related functions. Responsibilities include handling highly confidential material in order to comply with the ICW Act.

  2. Administrative duties for ICWA include the management of an Excel Spreadsheet, completing ICWA notices, scanning, mailing, managing email chains and legal memoranda and filing.

  3. Access, assimilate and summarize DCF ICWA data as requested.

  4. Maintain a relationship of communication with each Regional ICWA Liaison, all levels of each DCF Area Office, Area and Regional Counsel, any federally recognized Tribes within Massachusetts, the Nipmuc Nation (State recognized) and the otherfederally recognized tribes across the USA (currently 564 tribes (October 2016)) in orderto exchange information, resolve problems and coordinate ICWA compliance.

  5. Use of interpersonal skills that enhance positive interaction with staff at all levels both internal and external.

  6. Develop and implement ICWA training materials and respond to training requests for a variety of settings.

  7. Train DCF staff and participate in collaboration with the Tribes in training the courts, judges and others.

  8. Collaborate with the DCF and Tribe ICWA team and assist in organizing and overseeing joint ICWA conferences.

  9. Utilize small group discussion skills to educate and to enhance collaboration

among local DCF/Tribe teams

  1. Utilize writing skills that lend themselves to a positive approach towards problem solving, annual report writing and ICWA notice completion.

  2. Maintain and update the DCF Intranet ICWA page.

  3. Other duties to support compliance with ICWA as needed.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.*

II. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.*
