Job Introduction:

Global Consumer Markets (GCM) East | West IT is actively searching for a Technologist – Software Development focus on public cloud automation delivery. GCM East |West IT provides technology services and support to business in 16 countries around the world that primarily sell personal and small commercial lines property and casualty insurance.

In this position, you will be responsible for delivering a CI/CD build pipeline for the public cloud (primarily AWS) to be consumed by infrastructure and software developer teams globally. This will include working with teams around the world to gather requirements, develop and maintain the capabilities, and explain how to use the solutions.

As a technologist you will provide technology solutions that are easily maintainable and flexible while aligning to strategy technical direction. You will work with team members from multiple functions in multiple locations, in a highly collaborative fast paced environment. There will be a blend of hands on engineer and development work, and coaching offshore developers to deliver the solutions while identifying opportunities to continuously improve.

About the job:

  • Lead the development and delivery of a series of tools to be used by infrastructure and application software developers that support Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery principles.

  • Manage the end to end tool chain and products that support the tool chain as a service provided to a global customer base in multiple AWS regions.

  • Guide a team of offshore developers to design, develop, test, deliver, and maintain the tool chain and software developer services for the global customer base.

  • Contribute to regular sprint planning sessions, quarterly, and annual planning cycles.

  • Deliver artifacts, technical alternative documents and architectural designs that meet business requirements to ensure consistency, security, maintainability and flexibility.

  • Make recommendations to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Research new tools and products in the marketplace to support software development services, and provide guidance on technology selection.

  • Support security services, processes, and tools as part of the CI/CD tool chain.

  • Align with all stakeholders – all infrastructure and application teams, security teams, and leads on the Public Cloud Delivery team – to ensure developer services are aligned to global security, operational, and function requirements.

  • Document processes in order for solutions to be easily consumed by a global user base.

  • Collaborate with Central IT teams on solutions to ensure alignment with corporate standards while meeting market specific requirements.

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience; technical Master's degree preferred.

  • Generally a minimum of 10 years related experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of technology concepts, strategies and methodologies. In-depth knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies and new architectural concepts and principles.

  • Knowledgeable in software engineering languages and tools; proficient in new and emerging technologies.

  • In-depth understanding of layered solutions and designs; in-depth understanding of shared software concepts and requirements.

  • In-depth knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies; in-depth understanding of global business and technology trends and the financial services industry.

  • Highly developed negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills.

  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • The drive, ability and desire to learn new concepts quickly

  • Experience with agile software methodology, and test driven development

  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools and practices in a public cloud environment

  • Strong hands on experience in Java, JavaScript Frameworks, Python, JSON, server side frameworks, and exposure to database and API services
